History

New Covenant Community Church is a union church formed in 2003 by Covenant Community Church, a member of the International Council of Community Churches, and New Covenant Presbyterian Church, a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  By forming a union (rather than a merger) members of both churches maintain their original denominational ties. The name "New Covenant Community Church" reflects the names of both former churches. This union is also the source of our slogan: "Ecumenical in Outlook, Presbyterian in Heritage."

After the two churches combined, both former ministers retired and the Governing Board decided to sell both of our historic buildings and to lease space from Fairlawn West UCC.  This arrangement enables us to emphasize program and mission rather than building. It also allows us to assist our host church in the furtherance of its mission.

In July of 2008, the congregation called Richard (Dick) Griffith, D. Min., a former Methodist minister, to be our permanent pastor. We seek to "do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God." All are welcome to join us in pursuing these objectives.
