DESCRIPTION:On August 28 we’ll worship at Westminster Presbyterian Church\, 1250 W. Exchange St.\, with at least ten Akron-Area congregations\, and members of the Cameroonian Presbyterian Church.  Here’s your chance to fellowship with believers\, and make new connections with someone who may live across town  or across an ocean from you. \nA mass choir is being  formed for this celebration.  Singers and musicians from the different churches are lending their voices to this worship experience.  They will assist in leading the worship. DESCRIPTION:We’ll enjoy a night of friends\, food and fellowship. \nFound Sounds featuring Matt Dudack and his sound will provide the entertainment. Matt is the Artistic Director for The University Of Akron’s Steel Drum Band​. His arrangements and original compositions have been featured both in performance and on the band’s recordings. Part of his duties at the University of Akron include teaching an arranging class for steel drums and private lessons. \nIn 2002\, Matt traveled to Trinidad to get a first-hand look at the home of pan\, and was able to perform during Panorama with the Invaders Steelband. In 2010\, Matt travelled again to Trinidad and Tobago\,  as executive director for “Hammer on Steel\,” a DVD and PBS broadcast which was nominated for 8 Emmy awards. \n

DESCRIPTION:This Sunday is set aside to give local churches an opportunity to celebrate being a part of a unique Christian family\, the Community Church Movement\, and being a member of the International Council of Community Churches (ICCC). Marking this special Sunday helps congregations learn more about their church’s connection to the ICCC.\nTraditionally\, Community Churches Sunday has been celebrated on the last Sunday of April. This puts it close to the church’s celebration of Easter\, and themes of new life and new creation the season brings. The Community Church Movement is a new way and new expression of the Christian community. After centuries of division\, which have left the Christian family fragmented into many denominations\, the Community Church Movement desires a new way of Christian community – brought about through reconciliation\, unity\, love and new life. This year the date is April 24th\, the Sunday following Easter.

DESCRIPTION:Mitzvah Day Akron involves 8-10 congregations—NCCC\, Faith Lutheran\, St. Hilary\, Fairlawn West\, New Hope Baptist\, Temple Israel\, Akron First Seventh Day Adventist\, ISAK\, The UU Church of Akron\, and others– that gather for two days to work on various community-based projects. The weekend ends with a dinner at Temple Israel. Congregations sign-up for projects such as painting a home for a family\, sprucing up the grounds\, knitting scarves\, doing crafts with kids\,  etc.
